In the 40 days leading up to Easter, many Christians celebrate Lent, which is the annual Christian holiday that precedes Easter. Lent comes from the Anglo Saxon word “lencten,” which means “spring,” This is a special time of reflection, fasting, and prayer for Christians, in preparation for Easter Sunday. The 40 days represents the amount of time Jesus spent in the desert, fasting and preparing for His three year ministry. “Immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness. And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to Him.” Mark 1:12-13

“To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; Not one is missing…The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth…” Isaiah 40:25-26, 28

“It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” ( 1 Corinthians 13:7) Love bears all things. When times are hard, love bears. That word bears also means to remain according to dictionary.com. When everything around you crumbles, love remains – it stays. When times are good, it still remains. God’s love is always there for you. It never leaves. Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “The Lord is the one who will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.” This is how love remains – it remains because the Lord is always there. Love always believes, hopes, and endures. It believes when others tell you not to believe. It hopes when it seems like there is no hope. It endures when everything else is taken away. Love never gives up!

Wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas! We hope you can join us at Harvest Time Church as we celebrate Jesus’ birth for either Christmas Eve service at 3 pm, or Christmas Day service starting at 10:30 am!
“Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people.
He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David,
just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago. (Luke 1:68-70) “Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.” (Luke 1:78-79)

God’s timing is perfect! Just as He spoke through the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 7:14), the Lord fulfilled His word to send His Son, Jesus, the Messiah into the darkness of our world. With the fulfillment of Christmas, Christ’s birth brings a renewed hope for all mankind, and for each person individually. “As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus,[for he will save his people from their sins.” All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” (Matthew 1:20-23)

The spirit of Christmas is the spirit of generosity. Acts 15:11 says, “We are saved because the Master Jesus amazingly and out of sheer generosity moved to save us.” It’s so important that we don’t merely sing and share generosity during the Christmas season, but carry this message forward by our daily actions, and speaking the joyful truth about the day Christ was born. This day represents the good News of Christ Himself coming to earth to forgive and save us all!

“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.” Romans 12:4-8

Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” Acts 2:1-4 NIV

“He was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet he never said a word. He was brought as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he stood silent before the ones condemning him But it was the Lord’s good plan to bruise him and fill him with grief. However, when his soul has been made an offering for sin, then he shall have a multitude of children, many heirs. He shall live again, and God’s program shall prosper in his hands.” Isaiah 53:7,10
